Dustland Hat: Take 2

HatBeingWorn2HatDetailsTopHat  HalfHat  HatRibsHatBeingWornWhen I made this Dustland Hat for my cousin Julia, her mom went crazy over it. She wanted one of her own immediately, and when someone gets so excited about my knitting, how can I refuse them? It’s always a pleasure to make something for someone when you know they are going to be thrilled about it, and my Aunt Margaret is just the sweetest, loveliest person, so all in all I was thrilled to knit this for her. I also adore the color* that she chose and, double extra bonus, I have about half a skein left over. You know what that means? Two-tone hat for Laura, that’s what that means!

So basically, what I’m trying to say is that this was a very fun and satisfying project to knit, and I couldn’t be happier to be sending it off to my lovely auntie (ok, in the interest of honesty I have to admit I might be a teensy, weensy bit happier if I was keeping it for myself – I just cannot get over that beautiful teal blue with the blues and purples and greens mixed in!)

I hope all you lovelies are having a great week so far! Have you finished any knitting projects lately?

PS – you can see my first Dustland Hat and read my pattern review right here.

PS #2 – See more pics of the hat on facebook or flickr.

*The yarn is Knit Picks Swish, just like the first hat, and that gorgeous color is  rainforest heather

Thanks Allison! I love, love, love to knit, and I can’t recommend it highly enough – it’s such a fun hobby. You could totally teach yourself with online videos, or get started with a class at your local Joann’s :)

Love this! I’ve recently taken up knitting & so badly want to make hats but they look so confusing to me so I’ve been sticking with scarves haha.

Thanks :) I am seriously in love with that color (I know I’ve only said it like 6 gazillion times, but really, I just think it makes the hat)! Also, I knit scarves forever when I first started knitting – it was literally all I did. But, you should totally go for a hat! Just jump in and do it – I know you can ;) There are a bunch of beginner tutorials on this site, including one on circular knitting. And this pattern is pretty simple if you’re looking for one to try. You’d have to use double pointed needles at the end, but they are a lot easier to use then they look, I promise!
