I’m really excited to be participating in the Thrift Benefit for Sheltered Animals this year with 21 other awesome bloggers (you can find the name of everyone participating on the graphic at the beginning). The Thrift Benefit is a blogger event to bring awareness to shelters and the thrift shops that support them. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find a thrift shop that supported a shelter in my area (I ended up going to Salvation Army), but I have collected some links for you if you want to get involved with this cause:
- ASPCA – go here to find a shelter in your area
- Michigan Humane Society Shop – not a thrift store, but they have some cute merchandise and all purchases support the human society (and it’s online!)
- Humane Society of Monroe County Thrift Shop – Monroe, Michigan
- Shelby’s Place – benefitting Harbor Humane Society in Holland, Michigan
And now, on to my project. This is literally the easiest project I’ve ever done. I bought this tray at the Salvation Army for $4. And then I spray painted it with Rustoleum Chalkboard paint. The end! HA. Literally the simplest thrifted project ever!
I needed a tray to keep keys, mail etc in near my door – a sort of catch-all. But I also love decorative projects, and I really wanted something like much more. So I made something that could double as both. I love having a key and mail tray that is so big, and that I can write cute little love notes to my hubby on it. Or I could just as easily take it, add a fun seasonal quote and hang it on a wall or prop it on a bookshelf. I just need to work a bit on my handwriting ;)
Watch me and some other bloggers talk about our projects!
